Ruth Fitton joins East Oaks Studio for a boutique 3-day workshop exploring expressive portrait painting. This will be a small workshop, limited to six in-person attendees, as well as a virtual demonstration through Atelier Live. The course will focus on the creation of a fully developed portrait from life, beginning from a strong narrative composition, refining a precise likeness, creating a luminous and exciting painting. We will study texture, brushwork, and edges, as well as form and colour.
Morning sessions will consist of a portrait demonstration, in which Ruth will describe her process as she paints a portrait from life and answers questions.
Afternoon sessions will give in-person students an opportunity to put into practice what they learned in the demo, and receive feedback.
This exclusive workshop is limited to six in-person students, who will receive a significant amount of one-on-one instruction from Ruth.
Intended for intermediate/advanced students who have a strong understanding of painting fundamentals, which include draftsmanship, paint handling, and an understanding of form.
ATELIER LIVE WORKSHOP
The morning demonstration portion of Ruth’s workshop will be available virtually through Atelier Live, where participants can tune-in to watch in real time and ask questions, or watch the recording later in their own time.
